about
terminal256
a fully on-chain signal system disguised as a pixel collection.
WHAT IT IS
terminal256 is not a set of fixed images.
it is a network of 256 terminals.
each terminal carries a base signal, enters states, emits actions, receives effects, and leaves a trace.
the work lives between sculpture, score, machine, and game.
CREATOR
filter8
The chain is the canvas. Code is the medium.
On-chain artist exploring signal & permanence.
Founder of mintbay.
THE NETWORK
the collection layer is the network.
it shows all 256 terminals at once: who is ready, who is locked, who has acted, who has affected others.
this is where the work stops being a token and becomes a field.
THE SYSTEM
collection layer -> the network token layer -> the machine operator layer -> the player
each terminal has a base identity.
but the current state can change through action.
image, behavior, and memory remain tied together.
SIGNAL SIMULATOR
SEND
family: SEND signal: Boot start: #0
Scans right, skips targets already carrying the payload, stops if it hits a locked terminal, and writes once to the first valid target.
local execution preview of family logic. does not reflect live lock or cooldown state.
ACTIONS
execute
a terminal emits its current signal into the system.
[terminal] -> [signal] -> [effect]
reset
the terminal returns to its base signal.
current -> base
lock
the terminal is frozen for a chosen duration.
[terminal] x
cooldown
after execution, a terminal must wait before acting again.
execute -> wait -> ready
delegate
ownership stays with the collector, but action can be assigned to another address or contract.
owner -> delegate -> terminal
agents
delegated terminals can hand action to controllers and take autonomous actions within the system.
owner -> delegate -> agent -> terminal
WHY IT MATTERS
terminal256 explores the shift from static image to behavioral object.
64 × 64 pixels. two colors. terminal logic.
beneath that surface sits a machine that remembers, waits, routes, transmits, and changes.
